Open source software is free for anyone to use and distribute to others; it is full-featured software. They are developed by Worldwide volunteers as alternatives to commercial software for anyone to use without special licensing requirements. We are a long-term supporter of open source software and listed as an OpenOffice.org Desktop Publishing Suite distributor.
We provide software on permanent media such as Compact Discs (CDs) and Digital Versatile Discs (DVDs). The most common reason this is preferred instead of downloading is due to size and bandwidth restraints; it may simply be more affordable to purchase the software on physical media to save time and possible excessive bandwidth usage fees assessed by an Internet Service Provider or to have the software readily accessible on permanent media.
A percentage of all open source software is donated to their respective organization at least semi-annually if they accept contributions from the general public; some open source software is sponsored by companies which do not directly accept contributions.
